The Henley Park 2023 Chardonnay was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to new and seasoned French oak, with wild fermentation and partial malolactic fermentation. Malolactic fermentation (MLF) is a natural process that converts the malic acid in wine into lactic acid, which can give Chardonnay a richer, creamier texture and buttery notes. Spiced peach, fennel and flint on the nose with a creamy oak perfumed. The palate shows white peach with saline notes and a creamy cashew paste finish from spent sometimes in French oak.
This wine can be drunk now but has the potential to age well over the next 8-12 years.
The 2023 season in Western Australia was one of the best vintages in the last decade. Ideal rainfall and temperatures were observed throughout the entire season, all the way from pruning through to harvest, allowing for optimal fruit condition and flavor development in the grapes.
